As any metal fan living in this particular stretch of Red State Kentuckiana can tell you, if you want to see a metal show, you usually have to take a road trip to Louisville, Cinci, St. Louey or Indy. All that driving drives me nuts.
I feel it’s my sacred duty to tell you when a good show comes to the area. So mark your calendar for Monday, March 12, when Dying Fetus, Goatwhore, The Faceless, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason play Boney Junes, 5525 Pearl Drive, in Evansville.
I know. I couldn’t believe it, either. But it’s true. Tickets are $15, and are on sale at www.kapiro.com or at Joe’s Records, which is just 50 feet from Boney Junes on Pearl Drive.
There are several reasons you should go to this show. The music will be top-notch; Dying Fetus and Goatwhore are worth the $15 admission alone. Also, kids, this particular show will really make mom and dad mad: “Where are you going tonight, Johnny? “I’m going to see DYING FETUS and GOATWHORE!” Dad will have a fit and mom will call the preacher for a divine intervention for your soul. It’ll be great.
It’s very important to support local venues that actually bring original metal to town. In the coming weeks, Boney Junes will also host gigs by Born of Osiris, Chelsea Grin, Texas in July and Iwrestledabearonce. If these shows do well, the good folks at Boney Junes will keep them coming. But if the house is half-empty, well, you’ll be back to staring at the TV or trying to sneak dad’s beer as a form of entertainment, won’t you?
Let’s review: March 12, Goatwhore, Dying Fetus and lots more. Boney Junes. Evansville. $15. Be there. That is all.
